Cinnamon roll: the easy cinnamon roll recipe

It is a great classic in the United States as well as in Northern Europe (under the Swedish name of kanelbullar). The cinnamon roll has a reputation for being delicious at any time of day. Delicious at any time of the day, discover my personal recipe

How to prepare cinnamon rolls? 

🚩Ingredients :

For the brioche dough

  ✔️400 g of flour 
  ✔️30 g cane sugar
  ✔️ 1 pinch of salt 
  ✔️1 teaspoon of dry baker's yeast
  ✔️50 g butter 
  ✔️100 mL milk
  ✔️50 mL water
  ✔️1 egg
  ✔️1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the cinnamon filling

  ✔️100 g butter
  ✔️50 g brown sugar
  ✔️ 2 to 3 teaspoons of cinnamon

For the icing

  ✔️100 g plain cheese spread
  ✔️75 g powdered sugar
  ✔️30 mL water
Cinnamon roll: the steps of the recipe

Prepare the brioche dough

1-In a large bowl, mix the flour, cane sugar, and salt.

2-In a saucepan, melt the butter in the milk and water over low heat. Stop the heat as soon as the butter is melted, let it cool slightly, and add the baker's yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes. 

3-Add the yeast mixture, whole egg, and vanilla extract to the flour bowl. Knead for about 30 minutes (15 minutes if you are using a food processor). Form a ball.

4-Oil the bottom of a large clean bowl and place the dough in it. Cover with a cloth and let it rise for about 1h30 in a relatively warm place. The dough should double in volume.

🚩 Tips :

The temperature of the mixture to which you add the yeast should be around 37°C. This is the temperature at which the yeast will be most active.

Prepare the filling and shape the cinnamon rolls

1-Mix the butter with brown sugar and cinnamon.

🚩 Tips :

2-Take your butter out 15 minutes before working with it and cut it into small cubes. Otherwise, put it in the microwave for a few seconds. Be careful it must not be melted. 

3-Flour your work surface and roll out the brioche dough to about 0.5 to 1 cm thick, forming a rectangle.

4-Spread the dough rectangle with the butter filling. 

5-Roll the dough lengthwise, then cut out rolls of equal size.

6-Generously butter a rectangular pan and place the rolls next to each other. They should be touching but not too close together. Cover with a tea towel and let rest for at least 1 1/2 hours.

 🚩 Tips :

The version in a large dish is the traditional version, you can also place your rolls well spaced on a buttered baking sheet to form individual rolls. 

Bake your cinnamon rolls 

1-Preheat your oven to 200°C.

2-Place the rolls in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

 🚩 Tips :

To promote coloring, you can brush the rolls with a little milk or egg yolk diluted in a little water before putting them in the oven.

Glaze your rolls with cinnamon

1-In a saucepan or in the microwave, warm the water.

2-Mix the cheese spread with powdered sugar and water. Pour this glaze over the cinnamon rolls as soon as they come out of the oven.

3-Now all you have to do is enjoy without burning your fingers!
